COMMUNITY

Following Jesus was never meant to be done alone.
Many of us have experienced the emptiness that comes from living radically individualistic lives. Even within our social settings, we can experience loneliness. Because of this, the primary way we practice the way of Jesus together is through Communities. We desire to see a radical move of the Holy Spirit through authentic, diverse relationships that are committed to being with Jesus, becoming like Jesus, and doing what he did.
-
As disciples, we learn, discuss, and practice the way of Jesus together. Through teaching, practice, community, and the Holy Spirit, we are learning what it means to be a disciple, or apprentice, of Jesus.
-
As the family of God we eat, play, share life, and gather around Jesus, together. It is in this ordinary rhythm of life in a community that we become transformed to be like Jesus.
-
As God’s ambassadors, we serve, do justice, and proclaim Jesus together. As we live and work in the city and share life in the same neighborhood, we partner with God in pursuit of the spiritual, social and cultural renewal, and flourishing of Sonoma. We long to see the Kingdom of God come in Sonoma as it is in Heaven.
What Happens in Communities?
In short, life together! Communities are where we experience life together as we learn to disciple or apprentice under Jesus of Nazareth. More specifically, we gather weekly to discuss the Scriptures and spiritual practices amongst friends so that we can position ourselves to be transformed by Holy Spirit to be more like Jesus. Along with discussion, we spend time in prayer and usually share a meal together. Communities typically meet in homes around our city. Our communities also serve our city through various outreach programs and partnerships with organizations committed to seeing it in Sonoma as it is in Heaven.
